Find yourself worried about what to make for Christmas Breakfast? Look no further! These Eggnog Donuts are the perfect treat. They can be made in advance and ready to eat before, during, or after presents! Read on for the full recipe.
What do People Eat on Christmas for Breakfast?
There really aren’t a bunch of traditional Christmas breakfast recipes, because it’s usually Christmas dinner that is the highlight of the day. The morning is reserved for opening presents, and Christmas breakfast usually gets skipped or thrown together quickly, from what some people have said.
This can look like just eating cereal or maybe picking up a dozen donuts from the shop. Living out on the homestead, we don’t have the luxury of running to the store. We also have so many garden fresh recipes in our Recipe Box, and we enjoy making things from scratch at home.
Others that may not do the cooking for dinner have said that they will do a bit more for Christmas breakfast, which can look a few different ways. Some people will put together a smorgasbord of breakfast items like pancakes, eggs, sausage, bacon, and potatoes. That’s a lot of cooking for Christmas breakfast! What if you could prepare your Christmas breakfast the day or night before?
What can you make the day before Christmas?
Christmas morning is such a magical time for kids, and can be a pretty hectic time for parents. Besides staying up late with Christmas festivities, wrapping presents, or preparing your home for visitors, who has time to think about Christmas breakfast?
If you want to get a jump on things, there are definitely a few recipes that you can whip up in advance to make it easy to have a delicious Christmas breakfast without spending time cooking. One great idea is an overnight breakfast casserole. This would include eggs, breakfast meat, veggies, cheese, and seasonings and would slow cook overnight. In the morning, you will have fluffy, delicious eggs that can feed more than a couple of people! This is one of my favorite Christmas breakfast options because it keeps us full until dinner.
Another easy recipe that you can make in advance for Christmas breakfast are Eggnog donuts. Hear me out, because these things are delicious. The glaze is made from rich and creamy eggnog, and it delivers the perfect holiday flavor. You can also choose to make them fresh, for a warm, sweet Christmas breakfast that the whole family will love!

In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons of eggnog and a dash of nutmeg. Add in additional eggnog if the glaze is too thick, you want it thick but spreadable. Dip the top half of the donuts into the glaze, set on a piece of wax paper to set. Enjoy when ready !
