Hey Friends Happy February!
Happy almost spring time on the homestead there is so much we have been doing that we want to share all of our homestead winter tasks. First off we had a few baby donkeys that joined us when we were trimming back all of our fruit trees and bushes along the property. Now is the time to trim back for ultimate tree growth. Also we set up a new trellis we can not wait to share with you! We have big plans for our walkway to our house and we are going to take you for each step of the journey.
In the fall, fruit trees draw the energy out of their lush green leaves and into their root systems for winter storage. Once the energy has been sucked out of the leaves, those leaves will turn brown and fall off the tree. Fruit trees hardly grow at all during the winter months (their roots continue to grow, but that’s about it).
Winter pruning encourages vigorous growth: Moreover, when you prune your tree in the late winter or early spring, you will spur vigorous growth. Why? Well, because you are selecting the best branches to keep, while removing the lower quality branches. This means that when the spring comes, the tree won’t waste its energy fueling the growth of poor quality branches. Instead, it will focus that energy on the best branches.
Here is our beautiful new trellis we just set up and can not wait to share!! This walkway is going to be stunning in a few months. We are doing a concrete hedge layer in between the grass and walkway with beautiful flowers on each side. On the trellis we have decided to plant a pink lady banks rose. It is going to be soo pretty in years to come! Here is the link below:
Create an (edible!) entrance like no other. Try cukes on the side wings, greens underneath, beans on one side of the tall arch, and peas or squash on the other. Or go with something sweet-smelling and dramatic like climbing roses, clematis, or morning glories. The possibilities are endless! The grid spacing is perfect for most fruiting vine crops and the sturdy steel construction won’t bend or buckle under an abundance of fruit.
Overall: 16′ L x 8′ H x 2′ W; 10″ stakes below ground level
Main arch: 8′ W x 8′ tall
Side arches: 4′ W x 4′ tall
Eight 10″ spikes
Grid openings approx 3.5″ x 4″

Little Frosty one of our baby mini donkeys is showing you this stunning Jardin Rose Arch . The vibrant red roses are dormant right now but wait a few months and this is going to be a show stopping part of our homestead!
Affordable Rose Arch Lets Your Plants Take Center Stage
Graceful arch showcases climbing vines
Wide width creates a welcoming entryway
Exclusive Jardin finish is hand-painted to resemble weathered, rusted metal
Made from durable and long-lasting powder-coated steel
Some arches are overly ornate showpieces, not well-suited to supporting vines or climbing roses. This one retains the classic lines and heirloom elegance of Tudor arches, but with a simpler, understated design that provides practical support for climbing plants. Open 4″ lattice gives roses, clematis and morning glories plenty of places to vine and twine. Sturdy enough for wisteria too! Use solo as a statement piece, or line up multiple arches to create a flower-covered view.
