Happy Spring here is step-by-step instructions on how to make a beautiful and fragrant dried lavender wreath at home. Tips on how to harvest lavender and a DIY wreath form.
Hanging a lavender wreath around the house and front door could be just the aromatherapy needed to help with all that is going on with now with quarantine, or perhaps it will just make you smile. Regardless, this lavender wreath is a quick weekend project that will leave you calm enough to get in the garden and work on other crafts.
In order to make a fresh lavender wreath it is important to prune them. I usually cut them back twice a year around beginning of summer and again in August. Once you cut your lavender back you can have extra to dry or make a crafts with. One of my favs is to make it into pretty, fragrant wreaths. The fresh flowers dry on the wreath and it looks so decorative.
HOW TO MAKE A LAVENDER WREATH
Gather all the supplies, floral wire, real fresh cut lavender or faux lavender and a wreath. I link two different ones below.
Cut the lavender the correct size. Make sure all the stems are about the same size
Attach the lavender around the wreath wheel – wrap all the wire stems around and secure with the wire. Do not cut the wire keep circling and pulling tight. You can adjust the lavender the way you want it to look or what direction you want them to face.
Continue all the way around the wreath until all the space is filled. You can finish with a bow if you want or just fill in all the flowers like I did 🙂
