This time of year is so magical and one of my favorite things about it is all of the holiday recipes. This post is going to put all of my favorite holiday recipes in one place! Some are classics, some are twists on classic flavors, and some are my personal healthy holiday faves!
Traditional Holiday Recipes
Two traditional holiday recipes you can expect at Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners would be turkey and pumpkin pie. These are two of my absolute favorite things to make because they really bring the familiar comfort of the holidays when you’re looking around the table at your family.
Here on our homestead, we raise our own turkeys, and nothing can beat a freshly roasted turkey. I’ve got some secrets in that recipe that will ensure your turkey is flavorful and totally juicy, it’s the perfect holiday recipe! Check out how I make my Easy, No Fuss, Perfectly Roasted Turkey.
Another traditional holiday recipe is pumpkin pie. From October through January, you can expect pumpkin pie to be present in my house! We grow our own pumpkin patch, so we have an abundant supply of pumpkin all year round. You can expand your pumpkin harvest by canning or freezing your excess pumpkin so that you can bring it out when it’s time to make your favorite holiday recipes!
Most holiday recipes and flavors are diverse and interchangeable. No matter how you mix it up, a combination of holiday flavors will surely get you in the spirit! There are so many interesting recipes out there these days, and these are a few holiday recipes that I’ve tried that have become staples in our home. Who knows, maybe you will love these holiday recipes, too, if they are new to you!
The first of my holiday recipes that provides a twist on a classic flavor is my White Chocolate Covered Peppermint Oreos Recipe. First of all, Oreos. Second of all, peppermint is one of the most classic holiday flavors that there is, and it also stays in style all year long. These cookies are so easy to make and even easier to eat!
You can make these cookies as a treat for yourself, or make them as a treat or a gift for your family and friends! Not to mention, they are so fun to make. It may not be a traditional holiday recipe, but it’s a tradition in our home!
Another flavor that comes to mind when I think of dessert-type holiday recipes is Eggnog. This recipe gives you that rich eggnog flavor, with a fun twist that lets you eat it for breakfast! Are you curious about what this new holiday recipe will be? I’ll give you a hint…. Eggnog Donuts!
My girls absolutely love these things, and it’s one of our very favorite holiday breakfast recipes. Just like the Oreos, this holiday recipe can be made to share. Or not, it’s up to you!
Healthy Holiday Recipes
The only downside to loving so many holiday recipes is… eating all of those holiday recipes. Many of us prefer to enjoy holiday sweets without all of the sugar, and I’ve got you covered. Below are a few of my favorite healthy holiday recipes.
First, I have gluten-free gingerbread cookies. The way that these cookies make the house smell is absolutely amazing and they are so yummy as well. Being the crazy goat lady I am, I couldn’t resist switching out the gingerbread man cookie cutter for some adorable goat-shaped cookie cutters!
This next one isn’t just a holiday recipe and can be made all year long! This Pomegranate Pecan Swirled Chocolate Bark. This is so easy to make, and always a crowd-pleaser. We grow and pick out pomegranates fresh here on the homestead, so I usually make this holiday recipe all fall and winter long!
Lastly, we will top it all off with a holiday drink recipe. During the cold months, it’s always nice to have something warm in your hands and we are chocolate lovers in this house. Drinking hot chocolate as often as we would like to isn’t the healthiest thing, so here’s a healthy holiday hot chocolate recipe that will warm you right up!
This Paleo Peppermint Hot Chocolate Recipe is so rich and delicious, you will find yourself wondering if it’s actually a healthy option, but it is! The chocolate and peppermint combination is unmatched when it comes to holiday recipes, and this one is no different.
Do you have any holiday recipes? Share them in the comments, friends! We hope your holiday season is merry and bright!
Hugs,
Christina & Trevor
