Lemons are some of my favorite trees here on the homestead! And I thought a lemon mousse would be a perfect recipe to share this spring time. This is how I make my favorite recipe.
One of my favorite times of year! Citrus season is here and so are the orange and zesty lemons! I tried a new dessert and put a little twist on it. I made Homemade lemon curd which I used to make Lemon Mousse! It it worth every ounce of the work. There are a few steps. Trust me it will all be worth it!
Easy Lemon Mousse
A classic lemon mousse needs quite a few ingredients and for stirring at the stove the whole time while waiting in between for cooling steps! While there’s nothing quite like a true lemon mousse from scratch, sometimes you just need a quick and totally effortless dessert. And I am all about easy & time efficient delicious desserts! Especially one with farm fresh ingredients. I added in some images of Frankie & I gathering lemons too!
What is Lemon Mousse?
A lemon mousse from scratch is usually made from eggs and heavy cream with quite a bit fresh lemon juice. It is beyond creamy and usually has a flavor component of tart. This recipe is still subtle and sweet, but takes just 5 minutes! If you have ever made the old fashion way you know it is NOT 5 minutes it is half the day. You still get the smooth and deliciousness of a traditional lemon mousse, only spend a fraction of the time in your kitchen! Let’s make this lemon mousse together!
12 ounces cream cheese, softened to room temperature (I made a double batch)
1 cup confectioners sugar
1 lemon, juiced (about 1/2 cup)
pinch sea salt
1 cup whipped topping
In a large bowl, beat cream cheese until it is light and fluffy.
Add in the powdered sugar, lemon juice, and salt and beat until everything is combined.
Gently fold in the whipped topping.
Equally divide lemon mousse into cups and refrigerate uncovered until thickened, (about 1 hour is what I did)
When ready to serve, top with remaining whipped topping and lemon wedges.
